The study of theatre at Puget Sound successfully combines the rigor
of the classroom, the opportunity for independent research, the constant
exposure to the contemporary world of theatre, and numerous opportunities
for individual and group performance. No audition process is required
to declare a Theatre Arts major. Our program encourages students to
excel in theatrical and academic performance, supporting them with
outstanding instruction in all areas of the theatre. Our department
has three objectives:
- First, we provide theatre arts majors with an education for a
wide variety of performance and research, which will prepare them
for further study in graduate or professional theatre.
- Secondly, we provide numerous opportunities for co-curricular
involvement by students studying in other disciplines.
- Our third goal is to cultivate and educate our audience by presenting
high-quality productions to the University and Tacoma-Seattle communities.
I hope you enjoy exploring our web site. Thank you for your interest
in our department and please email
me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jac Royce, Chair
Theatre Arts Department
P.S. There is no audition process for acceptance into the program,
and non-majors are encouraged to particpate in the academic program
and productions (including scholarships).
