The 8th
Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society's
Northwest Section will be held Friday through Saturday, May
19-20, 2006, at the University of
Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. This
meeting brings together participants from institutions
in the Northwest region of the United
States
and in Western Canada.
The program will consist of plenary talks as well as
parallel sessions focused on the followings areas:
Applied physics (including industrial applications),
Astrophysics and Gravitational Physics,
Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics,
Condensed Matter Physics,
History of Physics,
Nuclear Physics,
Particle Physics, and
Physics Education.

Abstract submission: Friday, April 21, 2006
Registration at reduced rates: Friday, April 28,
2006
Housing at reduced rates: Friday, April 21, 2006
and after (varies with
location)
Participants are encouraged to attend the
conference banquet to be held on Friday, May 19, at 7:00
p.m. at the University of Puget Sound. Tickets are
available for both conference participants and guests.
After the
banquet, Mott Greene, the author of a new biography of
Alfred Wegener, will present a handsomely illustrated
talk entitled "Atmospheric Physics and Continental
Drift: The True Story Behind Alfred Wegener’s
Discovery."
