期末考 Preparing for Final Exam

·         Test (Lesson #21 Vocabulary in Pinyin & English)

·         Go over edublogs.com> Chinese 202> podcast Essay; create Voicethread Podcast Essay Slide

·         Review Situation #4 and go over Situations #5-7

·         Review Lesson #21 Practice Worksheet | PDF

Situation #4:
Leave a message for Ms. Zhang, staff member at the IES Beijing Program:1. You flight was cancelled (qu3xiao1 le);
2. You won’t arrive on August 20 as planned;
3. You won’t meet with the group at the Beijing Airport, ask them not to wait for you;
4. When you arrive Beijing, you will get a taxi and go to Bei3 Wai4 (the name of the school) yourself; you have the address;
5. Ask her about the cost of taxi fare from the airport to the school;
6. Ask where you should go when you arrive the campus;
7. You also want to know how far the main gate is from the dorm;
8. You are extremely sorry to trouble her;
9. You are very excited (ji1dong4 or xing1fen4) to have the opportunity (ji1hui4)to study abroad in Beijing;
10. Thank Ms. Zhang for her help

·         Review Situations #1-4 and also practice the following situations:

5)       Describe your apartment to a potential roommate;

6)       Explain your cold symptoms to a school nurse;

7)       Apologize to your Chinese host that you cannot sing but can tell a joke in Chinese;

8)       Ask directions;

9)       Call for instructions re: the medicine you brought back form the school infirmary;

10)   Explain your travel itinerary to your Chinese host.

1.       Podcast Essay and Recording (30% of final examination):

1) Create a one-page (landscape) word document:
a. Your podcast ESSAY TITLE in Chinese and English:
b. A photo about your essay;
c. Your name in Chinese, and then the following:

2) Send your final clean copy (essay in characters, with a
complete vocabulary list and English translation – font size
16 for text, 12 for vocabulary list and English translation; be
sure to include ESSAY TTILE in both Chinese and English) to perry@pugetsound.edu. (Due Monday 5/9, Final’s week)
3) Post an audio recording (select ONE paragraph ONLY to record) on Voicethread

2.       Speaking Situation (record on Voicethread Final Examination page to be created- by Wed. 5/4)
(30% of final examination)
1)  Complete before Final Exam on Wed. 5/11 - Choose any TWO situations from Situations #1-4 and any ONE situation from Situations #5-10 to record on Voicethread;
2) 
To be completed during Final Exam in class – ONE situation will be given in class (timed – 15 min.)
