Goals: Spanish 202 provides an in-depth review of grammatical constructions that have been introduced in previous semesters and an expansion of the vocabulary that will allow for an increase in the possible topics of conversation. Grammatical constructions are reinforced not only through conversation, but also through reading and composition, which are also the means for expanding vocabulary.
Attendance: There are no excused absences. Every absence after three will substract one percentage point from your final grade. Three tardies equal one absence. Tardies include late arrivals and early departures.
Testing: There will be 2 partial exams, a final exam, and 10 quizzes throughout the semester. There will be no make-up quizzes. Quizzes will not be announced. Only your best 8 quizzes will count towards the final grade. Missed quizzes will count as the lowest grade, and therefore will not be included in determining the grade. There will be 3 short at-home compositions to be turned in and peer-reviewed in class. A corrected version of the composition will be turned in to the professor during the next class session. These compositions will be written following the directions provided by the textbook in the "Taller" section. Finally, there will be an oral exam at the end of the semester. Each student will meet with the professor in her office for a short (5 minutes) conversation in Spanish.
Tarea: Your homework is to complete (prior to attending class) any assigned task and to read and work out the grammatical exercises according to the syllabus. Study the vocabulary and grammar instructions and do the exercises assigned for each corresponding section.
Workbook: You must complete the exercises in the workbook and then correct your answers with a different color pen, using the answer key. The completed exercises must be turned in the day of the exam. Late workbooks will not be accepted. Grades for incomplete or non corrected workbooks will be lowered.
