About myself

Greetings everyone! My name is Pepa, and I joined the Faculty of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Puget Sound as an Assistant Professor of Spanish in 1999. Since then I have had the opportunity to engage in many interesting projects and activities, as you can see in my curriculum vitae. Originally from Vigo, a coastal city in Galicia, on the northwesern corner of Spain, I received a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Philology from the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. In 1997 I obtained a Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. |

My dissertation, "Más allá de la esfera privada: escritura como espacio de autoafirmación en Martín Gaite, Esquivel y Cisneros", focuses on issues of space, identity and the process of writing in the works of three women writers from Spain, Mexico and the United States. My major field of interest in teaching and research is the 20th Century Spanish American Literature (especially Women Writers and Short Story). My most recent research has focused on contemporary women writers of the Hispanic Caribbean. |
