Schaamstreken
1998
, performed in the Netherlands, in Italy (Camerino), UK (Leeds) and Denmark (Odense)A turbulent farce dealing with the adventures of a young lady, her husband, her lover and a couple of rogues, all of them driven by their carnal instincts, which lead them into adultery, chicanery, burglary, and cross-dressing. The 'carnality' of the plot is emphasized by the addition of two so-called 'sinnekens' to the original cast, borrowed from the serious rederijkers drama (spelen van sinne, or moralities), in which sinnekens physically express the natural inclinations and the earthly lusts the hero has to resist. Based on the anonymous esbatement van Lippen ende Lijse ende van Jan Vleermuijs from the Haarlem Chamber of Rhetoric 'Trouw moet Blijcken'
