Academic Advising
An advisor's signature is not required to register for Summer Session courses. Students transferring to the University or taking classes as visitors may arrange for academic advising by calling the Office of Academic Advising (253-879-3650).
Any Fall 2007 freshman getting an "early start" in the Summer Session should alert the Academic Advising Office to insure a proper freshman advising assignment and notification to the freshman advisor of summer coursework.

Center for Writing, Learning, and Teaching
The Center for Writing, Learning, and Teaching helps students from all academic disciplines develop their ability to use writing as a tool for thinking and learning. With the assistance of faculty or specially trained peer writing advisors, students learn how to overcome writer's block, approach an assignment, and assess the audience and purpose of a paper. Working on a one-to-one basis with a writing advisor, students also receive help with organizing their ideas, writing a strong thesis statement, and reviewing their written work to make it clear, direct, and persuasive.
The Center is located in Howarth Hall, Room 105 and is open during Summer Term I. Hours will be posted.
Services for Persons with Disabilities
The University of Puget Sound is committed to providing program access and appropriate support services to individuals with disabilities. Support services may be provided for qualified students with learning disorders such as dyslexia or attention deficit disorder, and for those with chronic physical or psychiatric disabilities. Students may identify a disability and request accommodations in the admission process, through academic advising, or by contacting the Coordinator of Disability Services. Declaration of a disability is confidential and is not automatically a request for support services. Students who are denied accommodations may appeal that decision to a hearing board which is described in detail in the University Bulletin under "Services for Persons with Disabilities." Questions or concerns about access or support services should be directed to Ivey West, Coordinator of Disabilities Services. (253) 879-3395, TDD (253) 879-3399. email: iwest@ups.edu. For more detailed information, refer to the Disabilities Services web page.
