Local Neighborhoods

While the campus has much to hold our visitors' interest, we are also proud of the area in which we are located and all it has to offer. Within walking distance of the university there are two areas with shops, services, and restaurants: the Sixth Avenue Business District and the Proctor Business District. The Sixth Avenue Business District runs along 6th Avenue, about five blocks south of the southern edge of campus. The Proctor Business District lies along Proctor Street from approximately N. 24th Street to N. 30th Street (several blocks north and west of campus). In addition, you drive right through the Old Town section of Tacoma on your way to the university.
