Academic CreditThere are two course options at Puget Sound that allow students to formally link a work experience to the curriculum for academic credit: Internship Seminars and Faculty Sponsored Internships. You must be at least a junior to enroll in either of these programs. Procedures for registering for credit Activity CreditThe Co-Operative Education program allows students to gain preprofessional experience through off campus employment while earning between .25 and 1.0 activity credits. You must be at least a sophomore to be eligible for cooperative education credit. Procedures for registering for credit Finding an InternshipSeeking an internship requires much of the same kind of preparation as any job search. There are several Puget Sound resources that provide a great place to start your search for a co-op or internship placement. Remember to start your search early, especially if you hope to enroll for academic credit. Arrangements should be made during the months prior to the semester or summer in which you plan to enroll. Nationwide Internships Consortium: University of Puget Sound is a founding member of the Nationwide Internships Consortium (NIC), a group of national liberal arts institutions that share internship resources, giving students access to thousands of internship opportunities across the county. Shared database listings reside in a web-based, searchable tool that students access through the CES web site.
