We are one of the top-ranked academic institutions in the Northwest, as well as one of the premier small-college volleyball programs in the nation. If your goals include a true focus on academics without sacrificing top-level volleyball play (or signing away your life for a volleyball scholarship), we may be the perfect match for you. PROGRAM OVERVIEW

In the past decade Puget Sound has finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th (2x) nationally! Our other recent accomplishments include three Northwest Conference titles in five years...two of them with an undefeated record--as well as three All-American and five All-Region selections in the past two years alone. Players receive exceptional technical training from a former National Coach of the Year. Puget Sound is one of the few schools in the U.S. where student-athletes can combine both national-caliber liberal arts education and volleyball competition, without sacrifices in either area.

We do -NOT- have any athletic scholarships at Puget Sound. All aid is based on financial need and academic ability. The average GPA for an incoming frosh is 3.6, with a 1240 SAT. This will help you evaluate if you might qualify for significant academic aid. Despite the cost, many students list Puget Sound as their first choice because of our location and academic reputation. If your primary goal is to attain an athletic scholarship, we cannot assist you--but if your focus is on combining exceptional academics with high quality volleyball, we may be just right!

Our team has been extremely successful academically, proving that you CAN combine a high level of academic challenge with national-caliber volleyball--without sacrificing your social and other interests. Our team has a 3.1-3.4 GPA, and we have been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for exceptional TEAM academic achievements.

We are ranked as one of the top academic schools in the Northwest, and the #1 growing mid-sized, west-coast city. Our average class size of 19 creates a lot of personal interaction between students and professors. Our campus is reminiscent of an Eastern Ivy League school, with gorgeous, ivy-covered red brick buildings set in a quiet, historic, residential part of Tacoma. Tacoma is surrounded by the Puget Sound Waterway, and situated 60 miles from beautiful Mt. Rainier, which dominates the skyline. Seattle is only 30 minutes away, with plenty of culture and entertainment when you need a change of pace.

So as you see, we have it ALL--great volleyball, outstanding academics, and superior location! Since we are a national-caliber team that strives for excellence EVERY year, we are looking for true student-athletes who are VERY motivated to excel in volleyball, yet who expect their academics to come first.
