Comeback Effort Nets Wildcats Third Place

YAKIMA, Wash. - Using their consistently strong play in singles matches, the Linfield Wildcats claimed third place in the Northwest Conference, defeating the Willamette Bearcats, 6-3, at the NWC Men's Tennis Championship Tournament on Saturday morning at the Yakima Tennis Club in Yakima, Wash.

The Bearcats took a lead following doubles play as Willamette collected victories at each of the top two positions. Linfield kept it close with an 8-1 win at the third doubles spot.

In singles play, Willamette's Andrew Murakami held off Kyle Anderson at the top position, 7-5 and 6-4, but Linfield would take the remainder of the matches to collect the 6-3 victory.

Linfield finishes the season with a record of 16-7 while Willamette finishes the year with a 10-9 record.
