Thank you for your interest in the University of Puget Sound varsity Ski Team.

The University of Puget Sound Ski Team is a varsity program overseen by the Department of Athletics. We compete in the Northwest Collegiate Ski Conference of the United States Collegiate Ski Association, which governs most of the nation's collegiate races. Schools from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Canada are included within our Division and provide us with a high level of competition.

Training for the competition season includes both dry land and on-snow conditioning and practice. Our fall training activities are open to all full-time students and incorporate cardio-vascular, agility and strength conditioning. On-snow training consists of drills, gate-training and free-skiing, with use of the latest techniques and instruction. Selection to the alpine travel team is based on overall effort, training attendance and time-trial results.

Financial aid in the form of academic and need-based grants, guaranteed student loans, college work-study and a host of other resources is available to qualified students. You will need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1, 2000, for priority consideration. You may obtain this form from your high school counselor or from our financial aid office by calling 253-879-3214 or 800-396-7192.

A student's academic performance is extremely important at Puget Sound, and each student should be aware of the commitment involved in being a student-athlete. I believe that participation in athletics can be very rewarding and an important part of the collegiate experience.
