NWC Women's GolfYAKIMA, Wash. - Sophomore Sarah Bicker followed up a strong day one with an even better day two as she earned medalist honors to help the Puget Sound Loggers win their second Northwest Conference Women's Golf title in the past three seasons.

After leading all golfers with an eight-over 82 on day one, Bicker fired a six-over 80 on the second day to earn medalist honors by one stroke over Brynn Hurdus of Linfield and Whitney Ueno of Willamette. In addition to Bickers top performance, Maresa Jenson and Natalie Nakamine tied for fifth place in the individual standing with a two-day 173 as the Logger women held off a Linfield charge to win by four-strokes with a two day total of 696.

The Linfield Wildcats almost spoiled the Loggers part, shooting an outstanding 335 on the second day but it wasn't enough to prevent Puget Sound from capturing the title. Whitworth finished in third place in the tournament with a 739, followed by George Fox (742), Pacific (744), Pacific Lutheran (851), Willamette (867) and Whitman (872).

In the final team standings, the Loggers shared the top spot with the Whitworth Pirates with 28 points but the Loggers will be the ones representing the NWC at the 2009 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship in Port St. Lucie, Florida by virtue of the higher finish this weekend. Linfield finished in third place with 24 points, followed by George Fox (21), Pacific (19), Willamette (9), Pacific Lutheran (9) and Whitman (4). Lewis & Clark did not score in any of the three conference tournaments.
