WALLACE POOL

Hugh Wallace, an ambassador to France (1919-1921) was the man responsible for setting up a trust fund to which institutions could apply for assistance grants. In 1956 the College of Puget Sound applied for such assistance and was granted funding under the Wallace program. The construction of Wallace Pool was completed in 1957 and it was decided that it would bear the name of the ambassador, hence the Hugh Wallace Memorial Swimming Pool. Wallace Pool is an outstanding competitive arena with six electronic touch sensor timing lanes and home to Puget Sound's perennially strong Men's and Women's Swimming Program.
